Independent research. Real human cost.

Three Years of Work. And the Human Behind It.

“I spent three years researching AI, documenting its risks, building solutions, and trying to turn that work into something sustainable. This is what happened along the way.”

01Prologue · The life I wanted

Before AI, There Was a Dog and a Dream.

Five years ago, I made a decision.

Bułka with her red collar, resting in green grass
The Life I Wanted — Bułka, grass, sunlight

The question

I wanted a different life.

After years in corporations, managing complex business processes, leading teams, solving problems, and carrying responsibility, I began asking myself a surprisingly simple question:

What if I didn't want to live like this anymore?

I wanted freedom. Nature. Time to learn, explore, create, and enjoy ordinary moments.

And I wanted my dog, Bułka, to have a beautiful life.

Two years of learning

For the next two years, I studied, read, learned, questioned old assumptions, and slowly changed the way I looked at the world.

The second decision

Then, three years ago, I made another decision.

I put everything on one card.

Artificial intelligence.

I thought I had found an extraordinary tool for learning, creating, and building a different future.

And I did.

But I also discovered questions I couldn't ignore.

One experiment became another. One observation became a research project. One problem led to a working solution. And before I knew it, I was building AI systems, writing reports, documenting risks, contacting institutions, and trying to understand mechanisms I had never intended to investigate.

The irony

After years of managing complex systems, all I really wanted was a simpler life.

Freedom. Nature.
Ordinary moments.

Prologue · The day everything changed

November 7, 2021. The Day Everything Changed.

Bułka before adoption: a thin black-and-tan dog standing on a dirt path beside a grassy slope
Before — the shelter era
Bułka today: a happy, smiling black-and-tan dog with a red collar, sitting at home
After — at home, five years on
Same dog. Different chapter.

Before the AI research, the patents, the reports and the endless hours in front of a computer, there was Bułka.

A little rescue dog from a shelter.

On November 7, 2021, I adopted her. That was the beginning of her new life — and, in many ways, a new chapter of mine.

These two photographs tell a story that needs no algorithm to explain.

The first was taken before. The second, after.

Nearly five years later, she's still beside me. Through career changes, uncertain times, sleepless nights, new beginnings and everything in between.

I never dreamed of spending my days auditing algorithms or explaining why children deserve safer technology.

I dreamed of a simple life. A little peace. Nature. And watching my dog lie happily in the grass.

Sometimes, the most important things in life are the ones that never needed to be invented.

“I didn't dream of auditing reality. I just wanted my dog to lie peacefully in the grass.”

02Before AI

I didn't start with a startup.

The corporate years — photocopied for the archive.

For more than twenty years I worked with people and organisations — in business development, management, human wellbeing, psychology-informed coaching and organisational development. My job was to understand how people think, decide, and grow, and how systems help or harm them.

AI didn't arrive in my life as a venture capital pitch. It arrived as curiosity. I started experimenting, asking questions, testing what these systems do with people — and what people do with them.

The experiments became notes. The notes became reports. The reports became prototypes. Gradually, without anyone commissioning it, this turned into a major independent research and technology development effort.

The experiments became notes.
The notes became reports.

03What I actually did

I didn't just identify problems. I built solutions.

05The road

I knocked on more doors than I can count.

  1. 2024

    Curiosity becomes research

Independent research, first experiments and behavioural tests. The first prototypes take shape — built at night, on my own time and money.

  2. 2024 – 2025

    Building and documenting

Prototype development, KidsPiggy, KaiBot and Lumen. Reports written and shared. Technical documentation grows with every iteration.

  3. 2025

    Knocking on doors

Outreach to universities and institutions — thousands of emails sent. Job searches. Funding applications. Accelerator and competition submissions. Some answered. Many didn't.

  4. 2025 – 2026

    Recognition, without a path

Nominations and professional recognition — alongside unsuccessful applications, interrupted conversations, and repeated attempts to secure paid collaboration.

  5. 2026

    Asking directly

The work exists. So I'm doing something I never planned to: asking people, directly, to support the person behind it.

Women in Tech & AI Global Awards 2026 — nomination announcement.

A piece of the paper trail, pinned exactly as it arrived.

Nominated in the Female Founder Rising Star Award category — Women in Tech & AI Global Awards 2026 (WomenTech Network).

It is a real nomination, and I'm proud of it. It is also, in the most literal sense, not funding — which is what the rest of this page is about.

Recognition is not remuneration. A nomination is not a contract. An invitation is not funding.

Recognition

Recognized. Skilled. Independent.

I didn't spend three years preparing a pitch for something I might build one day.

I built it.

Working AI applications. Research frameworks. Child-focused learning environments. Behavioral testing systems. Technical documentation. Reports. Real-world experiments.

And I kept improving them.

Along the way, this work began reaching international selection processes and receiving recognition.

“Congratulations. Now what?”

These are examples, not the complete record of applications, evaluations, nominations and outreach undertaken over the past three years.

Recognized

International shortlist, jury evaluation stage and individual nominations.

Skilled

20+ years of professional experience, human-centered expertise, AI research and system development.

Independent

Self-directed research, working applications, documented tests, twelve reports, outreach and continued development.

The work behind the recognition

My background spans more than two decades in business development, management and complex operational processes, alongside education and professional practice in human behavior, coaching and wellbeing.

I brought that experience into independent AI research.

Through Free Intelligence Institute, I have developed and documented systems including KidsPiggy, KaiBot, KaiSpace, Python Zero and related research and auditing frameworks.

The work includes twelve reports examining digital environments and AI-related risks, as well as proposed and implemented approaches to addressing them.

This is an evolving body of work — with working implementations, recorded tests, identified failures, corrections and further development.

Recognition is a milestone. Not the whole story.

A shortlist is not a first-place award.

A nomination is not a grant.

And neither is a substitute for the work itself.

But each documented selection milestone is part of the history of an independent project that moved beyond the idea stage.

Recognized for the work. Skilled enough to build it. Independent enough to keep questioning it.

06The human cost

There was a cost. And I paid it.

This work was paid for with my personal savings, my professional time, and a great deal of emotional energy. Every month I kept going was a month I funded myself.

Along the way there were professional setbacks and opportunities that ended mid-conversation. There were disputed payments and account restrictions that arrived exactly when stability mattered most. And there was no dependable support underneath any of it.

I'm not telling you this for sympathy. I'm telling you because it's part of the work — its real economic consequence.

“I am proud of what I built. But pride does not pay for food, housing, or the next month of living.”

07 — The paradox

Recognition

A nomination.

Remuneration

Not funding.

Everyone talks about AI for Humanity. But who supports the humans doing the work?

I don't need another round of applause. I need a way to live, work, and continue creating.

10 — Final word

I didn't spend three years waiting for someone to give me permission to build something meaningful.

I built it.

Now I'm trying to make sure the person behind that work can keep going.
